SEMANTIC MEDIA WORKSHOP
Exploring IT for the Media Sector: A Value-IT activity
Thursday 25 February 2010
The Media sector has its own particular trends and requirements of market participants, which in turn creates particular opportunities for IT. In the case of Media, Semantic Technologies not only provides a potential response to these opportunities, but is a disruptive market force in itself. However, as always, it can be a challenge to get business executives and IT suppliers to speak the same language, and opportunities may be lost.
Semantic Technologies not only play a role for the consumer facing part of a Media company, but for its internal processes (such as content management) as well. Therefore, Semantic Technologies for the Enterprise (STEs) can play a part in helping market participants stay competitive and profitable.
STEs utilise core semantic components such as ontologies, taxonomies, RDF, and natural language processing to help IT systems work with greater conceptual and contextual awareness. Furthermore, the more expansive definition of STEs creates a new perspective on a very large market place for internal enterprise applications.
If you are a Media Company, you are invited to participate in a thought provoking, interactive workshop where we explore how STEs are reshaping Media businesses now and in the future. Our goals are:
- Inspire discussion and networking between IT suppliers, integrators, and managers;
- Bridge enterprise business requirements and technology capability;
- Determine demands for STEs for which EC investment could spur new supply;
- Unveil opportunities now and for the future.
